To the Stepan Razin’s Cave

Route introduces us to the history of the two Russian villages of Samarskaya Luka — Small and Large Ryazan with all their natural and cultural attractions. There is a legend among locals that in the 17th Stepan Razin and his men hid in a cave nearby more than once, and therefore it is called after him. Legends and facts are strongly mixed here.

But the cave itself is an interesting natural creation. Nowadays it is one of the largest caves of karst origin , and its surroundings are both historical and natural-geological monument. Nearby villages — Small and Large Ryazan — are Russian settlements from 16-18 centuries on the Samarskaya Luka.

Route is equipped with resting places. Not far from the cave there are several equipped springs.
